Award named in honor of former chairperson

WHAT: Fifth annual Earl Thomas Teasley Humanitarian Award to be presented to Violeta Peters

Violeta Peters, B.A., M.A. was born in
Volunteering and serving her community has always been
Peters's passion. She has served as an officer
of the Long Branch Board of Education and the Monmouth County School
Peters is a member of the Monmouth County Work Force Investment Board and a commissioner of the Monmouth County Recreation Board. She presides over the Latin American Association of Monmouth County and is a member of the Monmouth Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns.
Throughout Peters's successful career, she has been an active member of the community, focusing her involvement in efforts that promote academic advancement and cultural awareness.

Thomas Teasley, for whom the award is
named, was the chairman of the MCHRC at the time of his death in April 2010.
Teasley was a noted advocate for social justice, a beloved counselor and an
